The trail is named in memory of Japanese prisoners of war. They ended up in Soviet Alma-Ata after the Great Patriotic War and built many urban infrastructure facilities. The current Japanese trail is the remains of a working road that was laid during the construction of the hydroelectric power station.
Tip: pay attention to the horizon - the Japanese trail offers a panoramic view of the Big Almaty Gorge, and in good weather you can see the Soviets Peak.
